Smacking Children - allowed or banned?

Well, I heard a debate on BBC Radio Two on smacking children, whether it should be brought back in UK, most of the responses were disagreements, as they believed that smacking children can affect a child dramatically. They discussed the physical, emotional, social aspects of what may occur in effect to smacking.

However, within families there is smacking going on when a child is totally out of control, some may agree with me, some may disagree. It is only in public where someone witnesses such a doing and react awkwardly to the situation, whether the child is smacked across the face or even their butt.

But still, is it allowed within families that when the child is being a brat, disrespectful, being physical to you, you should show them discipline by smacking them? Is it a drastic measure in society?

I totally disagree with smacking children as it's perceived to be a form child abuse and this could become a habit for some parents and potentially lead to child abuse which could result in:

  • Depression (child)

  • Stress

  • Anxiety

  • Death

I believe that the Goverment is not emphasising enough on the dangers of smacking children nor they are attempting to completely ban this mistreatment. As clearly stated in the link provided below: http://current.com/1gr164c
